The Association of Corporate Counsel just published a terrific 10 page article on how to automate your contracting processes, "Transitioning your Contract Process from the Artistic ... to the Industrial". The ACC article was authored by Brian C. Quinn of Cisco Systems and Kenneth Adams, author of the American Bar Association's Manual of Style for Contract Drafting.
The piece notes starting on page 7 that "The most straightforward part of the contract process would seem to be getting other parties to sign your contracts ... But it has tended to be something of a nuisance, with [no clean way of] keeping track of the signature pages and who has and hasn't signed.
But comprehensive signature-automation solutions are now available. One is EchoSign ... What is particularly interesting is the tracking and filing component. EchoSign makes sure you can easily find a signed copy later ... From the perspective of the organization rather than the individual user, the system offers various security and data-management features and allows managers to check on the status of all the organization's contracts".
