Investors Business Daily did a nice piece on how WebEx Connect will evolve with the pending acquisition of Cisco, turning Cisco into a "Software 'Seller'". The piece noted that apps including EchoSign will "give WebEx, and Cisco, inroads into new customers" and notes the leading service providers have joined the WebEx developer network: "EchoSign's service automates contracting from request to e-signature to filing."
"What Cisco will do in online services remains to be seen, TenWolde says. But she says Cisco's purchase of WebEx advances SaaS. 'It helps to validate the business model. A lot of companies have indicated SaaS is a strategy for them to reach the small and medium-sized business community".
